Shenzhen FC secured their first league win of the season as they defeated Guangzhou R&F in a thrilling encounter at the Shenzhen Sports Center on Saturday night.
The match was a testament to Shenzhen's recent resurgence and their ability to bounce back from losses. The team had lost four straight matches before this one, but they refused to give up and worked tirelessly towards a goal.
With just over three minutes left in the second half, Shenzhen FC goalkeeper Liu Xueyi saved a penalty kick by Guo Yanli, who had scored the only goal of the game. The ball landed in the box, where Wu Lingbo headed it into the net, giving Shenzhen FC a 1-0 lead.
Guo Yanli came off the bench in the 85th minute to score his first goal for the club, capitalizing on a loose ball. The ball fell to him and he headed it past Lu Jianhong with ease.
The win gave Shenzhen FC a much-needed boost and put them firmly in the top five in the Chinese Super League standings. However, they still have a long way to go in order to secure promotion to the Premier League next year.
